Some art from summer

Since summer's almost over, here's a few random doodles and speed paintings. I might add a separate post for sketches but whooo knows. Scanning is a real pain now, since my dino-scanner will only work with my dad's dino-laptop.
Anyways.
Here's a brief description on some of them in order.
Speedpaint at the beach, about 2 hours.  Oils
Another quick landscape, I wanted to practice putting panels into an easily bought frame so there's that. Oils
Tiny acrylic painting of my sister s cat Cobie (:
Large portrait I'm still workin on.
Cartoony me in what seems to be what I wear everyday. b.b
Quick sketch thrown in to corel and colored.
Page 2 of that comic I'm making.
and just a colored doodle.

2 Projects from 3D

:1 Since I transferred and wasn't here to take 3D Design freshman year I was "strongly recommended" (lol) to take it over summer, so here's two projects from 3D at UNF.

The first group of images is from a project in which we had to create a model home, and the second group of images is a life size figure from packing tape b.b when the figure is placed on a staircase she appears to be falling. Although since gravity is everywhere hopefully it still works allright when sitting on a kneewall \:

We've had 2 other projects but I haven't taken pictures of them yet since I think I want to work on them some more before I call them "officially" done.

Lots' o Art

I kinda wanted to experiment with text a bit, and I missed doing funny strips.
Anyway, this was pretty quickly drawn out, hah so it's a little sketchy.

Corel painterX.

Just trying out some new things \:

hah It's interesting trying to make a human expression work on an animal/dinosaur/whatever. This was just a sketch for a design of website mascot. I might post more about it when it's all done, but since this was done really early on in the process I figured I'd post it.

Oh! And this is my cat Sasha. ---v--- She's huge and has laser eyes. :I

A tiny acrylic painting of my sisters cat Bubba sleeping c:

Just messing with acrylics on some left over illustration board.

Now I'm off to get some reference pictures!

It's FINALLY started to rain here again, so that means there will be some really beautiful cloud formations out there!  >:D

I love the way things look after it rains, the colors seem so much more vibrant.

Fun with Gouache

I bought some Gouache a few days ago and it's actually quite a fun medium. The only thing I'm not sold on is the fact that since it can always be re-wet, once it dries you have to keep it away from any liquids, and I'm pretty accident prone so that worries me hah... :1

The two cat's are my sister's, they're brothers. (:
And the boat I painted from a cool reference I found. I'd really like to start painting outside but recently Florida has been SO HOT... I can hardly even stand being outside for an hour.

Random Updates

I'm going to start a comic called "No Company,"  to help me continually work on backgrounds, everyday objects, composition, you know the works.

I made a pretty quick "cover" for it.

Although I want to make a comic about everyday occurrences, for the time being that's just going to stay in my sketchbook. \:

Oh, here's some digital dump-age for you. I wanted to sketch some folks' characters last week so I asked around and here are a few. The sketch itself took maybe about an hour, and the coloring maybe 30 min. So they're pretty quick.

The last character is my friend Laura Wolfe's (who is awesomeee) She's writing a book on her character, aannd I totally want to read it. :1

Thunder-house-Cats! And a Bird painting.

THUNDERCATS-HOOOOOO!

haha I really don't know. I never really watched ThunderCats much,

but it just seemed like a quirky idea XD

Maybe I'm spending too much time with my cat....

I didn't even want to draw that awful non-cat-thing Snarf,

and WillyKit and Willycat...

Because....Because....I hate them..... haha...

Also! Bird! For whatever reason I haven't been able to paint much this week

so this is from last week, it just finally dried :1

Portrait Practice, and Ramblings.

5x7 Oils

5x7 Oils

Just two basic portraits for practice.

Although I haven't been sketching as much as I would like I have been painting more often. Which is good because although I love looking at paintings, when it comes to my own I tend to be somewhat negligent. haha I don't really know why, but it could be that since I usually work digitally that it takes up much of my time spent doing art. This preference possibly comes from digital being my first explored medium, the ease at which you can start a new picture, not having to use chemicals, not having to clean up, and that you can so freely experiment without consequence really lends a hand to your imagination.

But sometimes I feel that oil painting is just more I-don't-know, fulfilling? Perhaps because there will always be a distance in digital art, in it is never as tangible, for I can never make an "original", only printouts. In contrast to the single canvas of which the painting was completed on. But I would dread going without digital painting, it's just so fun to experiment with and I love the process.

....It's hard to say what-is-what, but they both have a place in the world of art and I enjoy them both.

And I don't even know if this rambling makes sense. Sooo tired. I finally put away all my things from Ringling and....CLEANED MY ROOM. Woah. Yeah. Pretty crazy day.
Goodnight!
